Above all, the objective of the Central Sector Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low-income families. It helps them to meet their day to day expenses up to a limit while pursuing higher studies. but, the scholarship is awarded on the basis of the applicants higher secondary examination results. That is, Annually 82000 fresh scholarships are awarded.

LAST DATE

ELIGIBILITY
The department of higher education Scholarship Bureau points out some guidelines for the Central Sector Scholarship for college and university students. And they are listed below,
- Applicants should have secured 80% marks in class XII Examination conducted by higher secondary or vocational higher secondary boards.
- Applicants should pursue regular courses (not correspondence or distance mode) in collage or institutions recognized by All India Council of Technical Education, UGC Act 1956, Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, or Other Respective Regulatory Authorities
- The applicant should not be availing any other scholarships.
- Students pursuing Diploma Course are not eligible under the scheme.
- also, The parental/family income ceiling is Rs. 8 lakh per annum for all categories under the scheme. An income certificate would be required for the fresh applicants only.
RESERVATION
Students belonging to reserved categories, weaker sections, or minorities are eligible for the Central Sector Scholarship. So, eligibility is on the basis of merit, subject to central reservation policy, and internal marking.
Reservation for the various categories;
- Scheduled castes 15%
- Scheduled tribes 5%
- Other backward classes (OBCs) 27%
- above all, Horizontally 5% for physically handicapped and persons with disabilities (PwDs) in all the categories

NSP will be opened for online application in the month of June- July every year.

There are two levels of verification-
the first level of verification is done by the institute where the student is studying and secondly by the respective state education board system.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT
The scholarship amount is Rs. 10000 per annum for the graduation level for the first three years of study. For the post-graduation level, the scholarship amount is Rs. 20000 per annum. Similarly, this amount will get for the two years of post-graduation studies. and for the students pursuing professional courses like B-TECH, B-Eng, etc, where the duration, of course, is five (5) years would get Rs.10000/- per annum in the first three years of study. Also, just like the post-graduation level, the amount will be Rs.20000/- in the 4th and 5th year
